Indira Gandhi Vs Swami Karpatri Maharaj Tragedy

Indira Gandhi had made a promise to Swami Karpatri Maharaj to ban cow slaughter on getting reelected to the Parliament, but after getting elected to the Parliament PM Indira Gandhi on 7th November 1966 (Gopashtmi) got the Sadhus, Gau Rakshaks, and Hindus massacred at the hands of the police while those Sadhus and Hindus were on an agitation outside The Parliament for reiterating their demand to ban cow slaughter and remind Indira Gandhi of her promise.

During this massacre, while picking up the dead bodies of Sadhus, Gau Rakshaks And Hindus Swami Karpatri Maharaj gave a curse to the then PM Indira Gandhi that she would die on “Gopashtmi Day” (and so did it happen on 31st October 1984).

Thereafter Shankracharya Niranjandev Tirth, Swami Hariharananda Ji, widely known as Karpatriji Maharaj along with Mahatma Ramchandra Veer observed fast unto death for the brutal killing of sadhus and Gau-bhakt devotees in Delhi. Mahatma Ramchandra Veer observed a long fast for 166 at that time.

The next Home Minister (whose tenure lasted from 14 November 1966 to 27 June 1970) a widely known puppet of Indira Gandhi, Yashwantrao Balwantrao Chavan went to the fasting saints and promised to bring the ‘anti-slaughter bill’ in the next session of parliament and the saints ended their fasting. But, the anti-Hindu Congress government never kept the given promise.
