It has been observed that DHL scam calls use a phone or mobile number starting with the prefix +870. This numeral prefix appears when the calls are made from the US, mainly Arkansas because this is the area code for Arkansas used in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP).

It covers the eastern, northern, and southern parts of the state. This includes several cities like Monticello, Magnolia, Pine Bluff, El Dorado, Jonesboro, and Mountain Home.

DHL Scam Calls Modus Fraud Operandi

It appears that the scamsters are using the latest technical equipment and software to financially cheat the members of the public, by hiding their calling numbers and cloning and superimposing the area code of other locations or countries as well as the calling numbers on their outgoing DHL Scam Calls thereby hiding their identities and locations.

The Silver Lining In The DHL Scam Calls

This information can help several Government authorities in investigating and solving several such online financial scams like the present DHL Scam Calls:

  1. To track the IP Address, IMEI Number of the Device Used, and the Mobile Number used for such scams
  2. Thereafter trace the owners of the devices used as well as the subscribers of the SIM Cards used fir the scam transactions.
  3. Thirdly, track and trace the bank account wherein the money has been transferred by the victims which is possible by tracing the IP address of the device used at the time of the transaction and the bank account number linked to the mobile number of the scamster to which the money had been transferred by the victim of financial fraud.

All the above steps by the Government authorities are likely to help them successfully nab the offenders and also help them to ensure the recovery and refund of the precious hard-earned money lost to the offenders by the innocent members of the public.

The DHL Response

Thereafter we contacted DHL Mumbai in India on their contact number +912266789001, and informed them about the above developments, on hearing this they told us that they have been daily getting calls from 20 to 25 persons about such fraud or scam calls and that about more than a few million rupees have been defrauded by the scam callers from the innocent public at large.

They also informed us that they had filed their complaint with the Indian authorities, and they have also been informing all the callers about all such incidents to the Indian authorities on the number 1930.

A Suggestion To DHL

To save its reputation and image DHL should publicize and or advertise on various media like FaceBook, TV Channels, Instagram, and other social media platforms, alerting the members of the general public to remain alert of such financial scams and especially the misuse of their brand and name, thereby additionally earning a goodwill for themselves.

Conclusion

In such cases as the present DHL scam calls, it is always better to remain alert and not to make any payments, and inform the authorities on 1930 immediately.
